SenterNovem is a government agency for innovation and sustainable development. Due to the combination of technical expertise in depth and breadth, societal involvement, and know-how and experience with process implementation we are a professional partner for governmental organisations when designing and executing policy in our field of work.

Sustainable development is unthinkable without innovation. SenterNovem brings together these two themes.
SenterNovem focuses on businesses, knowledge centres and local and regional authorities and is in touch with needs and requirements of these target groups.

SenterNovem is the agency for grant aid, policy advice, process supervision, exchange of knowledge, information or assistance with finding partners for projects. The agency pools our knowledge of innovation, energy, climate and the environment. SenterNovem helps Dutch industry to strengthen its position and contribute to a more sustainable society that looks after both people and the environment.

SenterNovem assists the national government in energy policy implementation in energy conservation, sustainable energy, sustainable building and transport and government commitment with respect to the Kyoto Protocol. SenterNovem supports the development of new and advanced technologies, demonstration projects, market introduction, technology dissemination and technology information exchange. The Long Term Agreements, covenants, Labels, Performance standards, monitoring and co-operation agreements, workshops, conferences are power tools for SenterNovem to successfully facilitate the national government in achieving the sustainable policy goal.

SenterNovem is actively involved in international activities: European Commission Programmes, the EnR network, International Energy Agency, participation in committees and several implementing agreements, sustainable development in developing countries and work for the United Nations.

SenterNovem duties and responsibilities within IEA Bioenergy Task 40

SenterNovem is the Executive agency for the Ministry of Economic Affairs and acts on behalf of the Ministry as the Contracting Party for IEA Bioenergy and Operating Agent for IEA Bioenergy Task 40.
From the Ministry of Economic Affairs Mr. Erik Wissema is the Member of the Executive Committee and Mr. Kees Kwant from SenterNovem is the Alternate Member.
