Api nòva energia, Italy

Api “anonima petroli italiana” group is a well know consolidated Italian Company operating since many decades in the “downstream” oil field, owning and managing a medium size Refinery in Falconara Marittima (Province of Ancona) with a total refining capacity of 3.9 M ton/year.

With the intention of developing in the energy field api group set up a new Company api nòva energia with the scope of managing all new investments in power plants for the production of green energy and implement the already operating green power assets (100 MW of wind and biomass). api nòva energia was created in 2006, with the aim of developing projects for the generation and marketing of electricity, from both traditional and renewable sources. The new company’s mission is to research and implement the latest technologies in electricity generation, to maximize efficiency and minimise CO2 emissions.

In 2007 api nòva energia has started the construction of a considerable quantities of wind farms in southern Italy, beside the wind parks already owned, for a total power of 350 MW in partnership with the Spanish company Iberdrola, a photovoltaic plant for a power of 10 MW and has also planned a number of projects to be built in Italy consisting of diesel engine “green power” stations fed with vegetable oil, for which the relevant applications are already underway.

api nòva energia can count on a considerable presence in the renewable energy industry by completing several major investments, including the biggest installed plant to produce renewable energy from biomass in Europe (60 MW) “Biomasse Italia” power plants.

As far as the biomass issue is concerned, one of the main strategic targets of the company will be to ensure a biomass supply trough investment on the production of biomass from sustainable no food energy crops.
