As first event in 2009, IEA Bioenergy Task 40 (Supported by VEA, the Flemish Energy Agency) will organise a workshop on sustainability certification for biofuels and bioenergy. The event will take place in Brussels on Thursday 29 January 2009, and will be followed on Friday the 30th by a field trip to a large power plant using wood pellets. Other events scheduled for 2009 are a contribution of Task 40 to the 31st Symposium on Biotechnology for Fuels and Chemicals in San Fransisco in May 2009, and workshop in Japan in autumn of 2009 (setting to be determined in a later stage).
