NL Agency came about through a merger of EVD, The Netherlands Patent Office (Octrooicentrum Nederland) and SenterNovem. Focussing on sustainability, innovation, international business and cooperation, NL Agency is the number one contact point for businesses, knowledge institutions and government bodies. One single contact point for information, advice, financing, networking and regulatory matters. One single contact point for a quicker and better service.

Furthermore, NL Agency acts as the eyes and ears for the various contracting ministries, providing advice on the current state of society. This should lead to a closer correlation between policy and implementation in the future.

NL Agency also works on behalf of international organisations such as the European Union, the International Energy Agency (IEA) and foreign governments. Through us these organisations gain access to a broad Dutch network of knowledge institutes, research centres, trade associations, companies and government officials. We also participate in numerous international platforms and counselling groups.

Nl Agency duties and responsibilities within IEA Bioenergy Task 40

Nl Agency is the Executive agency for the Ministry of Economic Affairs and acts on behalf of the Ministry as the Contracting Party for IEA Bioenergy and Operating Agent for IEA Bioenergy Task 40. Mr. Kees Kwant from Agency Nl is the main ExCo member. Mr. Wouter Schaaf of the Ministry of Economic Affairs is the alternate ExCo member.

The Role of the Operating Agent is described in the IEA contract but can be summarised as:
* Formal responsibility for the task
* Act as the link between the task and the Executive Committee
* Review the Progress Reports and Annual Accounts.
